To blog or not to blog...

That is the question I have been asking myself for many a month now. On the one hand, I really love reading what is going on in other people's lives. (Usually without their knowing; I'm what is referred to as a "blog stalker.") And I really should be keeping a journal of all of the crazy day to day things going on in my life. But on the other hand, who really cares about my life? Who is going to read this besides my little sister who thinks I am cool no matter what?

And besides, blogging is so…
trendy. And who wants to be trendy? Not me, I’m an individual. Case in point: From the time I was old enough to have an opinion about my wardrobe, I have owned at least one stand out piece of clothing. Something hideous you sensible folks would never be caught dead in. In fifth grade it was a neon green jump suit so vibrant it landed me the role of Polly Perky in our school’s musical theatre group. Garbed in such a garish get-up, my trusty sidekicks (read: poor younger siblings) and I sang a rousing rendition of "Put on a Happy Face."

In seventh grade, it was a lightning pink turtle neck layered under an oversized T-shirt reading “Life’s a Beach.” In eighth grade, leprechaun green suede shoes, white knee high socks, knee length black denim shorts and another T-shirt where the breast pocket design was purposely placed on the back so that everyone would think I had gotten dressed in the dark. A great conversation starter, let me tell you.

I won’t continue to bore you with my whole fashion history, but suffice it to say, I didn’t spend much time hangin’ out with the “in” crowd. Which brings up the biggest reason why I should run away from blogging at top speed. With all those lists of family and friends running down the right column, and “legions of adoring fans” (sorry Bridget) flanking the left, and counters ticking off each and every visit, and bloggers campaigning for comments, isn’t blogging just another popularity contest? Another club that is open to the cool kids only?

Well bring it on! I have funny stories to share, I can write a decent book review, and hey, haven’t I always told myself I was going to be published some day? So what if it’s only a dinky blog that only my loyal family will read? (Well, maybe not even them, after they see the photo I posted!) Maybe I’ll find myself in the process and if not, I can always hide behind my bright yellow sweater and this polka dotted background.

  2. Can I sue for defaming a public figure? Or at least making a public figure out of me long enough to defame me? Or something like that. Just you wait, I've got some great pix of you if it's going to be a war. Mwahaha

  3. You can thank Celeste for passing on the information that you are blogging! Thanks for telling us! I think it's great you are blogging. It's nice to see what's happening in friends/families lives even if you do see them often. By the way Matthew couldn't stop laughing when he saw the picture you posted...nice outfit, you should wear it to Parker's blessing on Sunday :)

  5. You're busted now. I'm going to link to you unless you tell me otherwise.

You bring up a good point. I called the Followers thing "Legions of Adoring Fans" when I was testing it out and somehow never went back to change it. Note to self: look into that.

You mean to tell me that the green jumpsuit is NOT a costume, but a regular piece of clothing??
