"Housework, oh housework, I hate you, you stink
I wish I could wash you away in the sink."
I wish I could wash you away in the sink."
-my adaptation of Shel Silverstein's "Homework"
(Only, I found one website that said it was by Jack Prelutsky so now I'm not sure.)

So we bake brownies instead of washing the dishes.

And we lay around in our pajamas all day and read books instead of folding the laundry.

And, of course, we make faces at the baby.
Perhaps when my children are grown I will enjoy a clean house, but probably not.

Anyhow, the point is, that I hate doing chores around the house.

i'm right there with you, my sister from another mister!
ReplyDeleteThis could be my post... Somedays it is not worth the stress of even looking at the dishes when the kids are so cute.
ReplyDeleteI hate that it never ends. Even if I get something clean it is undone the next day. We sound like our mothers. :)
ReplyDeleteMmm, brownies! You bring those over with your laundry and I will fold it for you! My mouth is watering.
ReplyDeleteDon't you remember that poem mom has hanging in the kitchen? it says:
ReplyDeleteExcuse This House
Some houses hid the fact that children live there. Ours boasts of it quite openly, the signs are everywhere for smears are on the windows, tiny smudges on the doors, I should apologize I guess, for toys strewn on the floor.
But I sat down with the children, and we played and laughed and read. Even tho the doorbell doesn't shine, their eyes will shine instead. At times I'm forced to choose, the one job or the other. I want to be a housewife, but first I'll be a mother."
My house is only ever clean when lots of people are coming over, thats it. And not only do the kids spend most days in their PJ's, so do I! The kids aren't going to remember that the house was clean, their going to remember their mom was there baking brownies with them and reading to them. That's what matters most!
